April Hawkins, a native of Phoenix, Arizona is a Faith Based Dance Instructor for inner city children and youth in South Phoenix. April founded David Dance Troupe, a Community Faith Youth Dance Troupe, in 2013 to give back to the youth in her community and provide them with the exposure to different genres in dance. Growing up April always had a goal to earn her Dance Degree so she performed and competed in local community pageants and participated in commercials. Praise dance is where she flourished the most. April believes that this is her God given gift and avenue for connecting and encouraging children and youth to become anything they put their hearts and minds to, no matter.

April is currently obtaining her degree in Dance Performance and Technology at Scottsdale Community College and plans to enhance her ability to continue to teach and give the basic dance skills to students in her community. April’s inspiration, passion and determination for working with children and youth has provided a safe place and created space within the community for children, youth and adults to experience free expression, have a healthy outlet and do everyday life through dance. David Dance Troupe dances all over the Valley at various venues such as the State Fair, Churches, Grand openings, and Community events.
