Dr. Terry Leyba Ruiz

Dr. Terry Leyba Ruiz is a career educator, executive leader, and passionate advocate for public education. Her journey began as a student in the Roosevelt Elementary School District and continued through Northern Arizona University before concluding with a doctoral degree in Higher & Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University.

Terry has dedicated 35 years to the classrooms of South Phoenix as a math teacher, an administrator, and ultimately as the president of Glendale Community College, where she championed expanded access to higher education and workforce training for students.

Now, Terry is bringing that same devotion to the community to the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction because she believes that public education is the foundation of our democracy and must be protected.
